“Towards a pollution-free planet” is the important strategic objective proposed in the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)’s Medium-Term Strategy for 2022—2025. The aim is to prevent and control pollution and ensure good environmental quality and improved well-being for everyone.
Scholars, engineers, and experts in the environmental field have been dedicated to scientific and technological innovation and engineering practices that aim to create a better environment. FESE shares this vision and has organized a special issue on the theme of "Towards a pollution-free planet" to promote long-term and extensive international communication for protecting our shared home — Earth.
This special issue offers an outlook on the blueprint of "moving towards a pollution-free planet" to enhance human well-being. It covers diverse environmental media, such as the atmosphere, water, and soil, and provides effective measures to implement in moving towards a pollution-free planet. It includes information on the environmental exposure and health effects of high-risk pollutants, the development of pollution monitoring and control technologies, and effective strategies for carbon reduction.
