Carbon materials are prefect catalysts and supports for dehydrogenation reactions due to their stable structure, rich pore texture and diverse surface functional groups. The review summarized various carbon-based catalysts, including ordered mesoporous carbon, carbon nanodiamond, carbon nanotubes, graphene and activated carbon. The discussion of unique structure, dehydrogenation mechanism, active site and ingenious preparation method illustrates the current development of carbon-based catalysts. The analyzation of their catalytic performance enhancement method like reasonable synthesis method and heteroatom doping, provides guidance for their design and improvement in the futural research.
