Building on the success of the 9th International Conference on Biorefinery and Biomanufacturing, which took place from January 13th to 17th, 2025, in São Paulo, Brazil, Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering (FCSE) has decided to launch a special issue. The topics covered include, but are not limited to:

1. Technology development in synthetic biology and metabolic engineering.

2. C1 conversion and sustainable green carbon biomanufacturing.

3. Biocatalysis and heterogeneous catalysis.

4. Biomass conversion for bioenergy, bio-based materials, and chemicals.

As the Special Issue Editors, we cordially invite you to contribute your recent research work (either full papers or communications), critical reviews of the state-of-the-art, or perspectives on relevant fields to this special issue. After submission, your manuscript will be evaluated by the editors and undergo the normal peer-review process.

FCSE is a leading peer-reviewed international journal in chemical engineering. It is jointly published by Springer and Higher Education Press and co-sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Tianjin University.
