Livestock farming is an important guarantee for the meat, eggs, milk, and ‘Vegetable Basket Project’ in modern society. And the integrated management of livestock and poultry waste, involving the entire industry chain of the upstream, midstream, and downstream treatment of livestock farming, is crucial to the green and sustainable development of the industry, and the agricultural carbon neutrality. We are therefore organizing a special issue of Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering (FASE, http://journal.hep.com.cn/fase) entitled “Comprehensive valorization of livestock farming waste, and carbon neutrality in livestock farms”. As a fast-growing interdisciplinary subject, the special issue requires a holistic approach across disciplines and fields.
The special issue invites the submission of original and innovative papers as well as reviews relevant to the following general scope:
1. Carbon source reduction in livestock farming;
2. Intellectualization, energy conservation and emission reduction of livestock farms;
3. Biological treatment and valorization of livestock farming waste (Anaerobic digestion, compost);
4. Thermal conversion and valorization of livestock farming waste (Hydrothermal carbonization, hydrothermal liquefaction, etc.);
5. Circular agriculture models(combination of planting and breeding, biochar returning to fields, etc.);
6. Multi-Energy complementation and improvement of quality and efficiency in livestock farms;
7. Methodology and GHG capture technology for emission reduction;
8. Standard, regulation, and policy.
General Introduction
Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering collects innovative papers that advance the understanding of scientific, technological/engineering, socio-economic, institutional/policy, and management factors that drive current and future agricultural productivity and sustainability globally. It is an open-access journal published quarterly with no page charges. The Editor-in-Chief of FASE is Academician Prof. Fusuo Zhang, based at China Agricultural University. The associate Editors-in-Chief comprise Hans Lambers from the University of Western Australia, Shenggen Fan and Yaofeng Zhao from China Agricultural University, Oene Oenema from Wageningen University, William J. Davies from Lancaster University and Peter Vitousek from Stanford University. All submitted manuscripts will be peer-reviewed by experts of international standing.
Deadline
In view of your international standing as a research scientist, we cordially invite you to write a review or research paper for this special issue related to one of the topics listed above with a deadline of December 31st, 2022. We look forward to receiving a positive response and a one-page abstract from you by July 31st, 2022.
