Next-generation optoelectronics that are lightweight and flexible have shown potential in portable and wearable applications owing to their ability to conform to arbitrary surfaces or even human skin. Photodetectors, as a vital component of optoelectronics, have been used in various applications, from simple light sensors to more complex imaging systems. The photodetectors when applied to robots will equip them with “eyes”, thus obtaining a more lifelike appearance and even making them see far better than humans. The robots with these “eyes” can detect objects, adjust their behaviors through light sensitivity, and autonomous navigation. The robots with these capabilities can be more effective in several applications, from manufacturing and healthcare to outer space exploration and scientific research.
