Special Issue on
Photonic Crystal and Topological Photonics
Guest Editor:
Prof.
Xiaoyong Hu, Peking University, China
Photonics crystals, periodic dielectric microstructures that affect the propagation states of photons just like that ionic lattices affect electrons in solids, possesses the capability of guiding and manipulating light at the mesoscopic scale. More recently, along with the discovery of topological insulators, this field is benefited from applying the ideas of topology to photonic band structures. In order to promote research in the area of topological photonics and development of photonic devices based on topological features, Prof. Xiaoyong Hu (Peking University, China) are planning to organize a special issue on
photonic crystal and topological photonics, expected to be published in the first issue of
Frontiers of Optoelectronics in 2020.
✔
This special issue will cover the most recent progress in
physics, materials, structures, and applications of photonic devices based on photonic crystals with topological features. The topics include, but are not limited to: honeycomb lattices and Dirac points, synthetic dimensions, non-Hermitian topological photonics, gyromagnetic photonic crystals, topological metamaterials, spin-orbit coupling for light, optical isolators and robust transport, valleytronics in 2D materials, quantum topological photonics, etc.
