Proven and Potential Microbial Contributions to the Gulong Shale Oil
The shale oil and gas revolution have a profound impact on the energy development in the world, and the important contribution of microbes is being discovered and valued. For the Gulong shale oil, the microbes dominated biological source and organic matter mineralization process have been proven, while the contribution of microbes in improving reservoirs and increasing oil recovery remains to be confirmed. In the future, in order to grasp the distribution patterns of microbial communities in oil reservoirs, it is necessary to conduct a survey and research on the endogenous microbes in shale oil reservoirs. It is also necessary to develop efficient bacterial strains and microbial preparations that are suitable for the environment and development needs of shale oil reservoirs. Applying microbial technology to shale oil exploration and development will help to achieve the green realization of the shale oil and gas revolution.
