Abstract

Effectively controlling ground deformation is critical for ensuring the safety of shield tunnel construction. This paper proposes a novel resilience evaluation model for ground disturbed by large-diameter shield tunneling, incorporating the influence of recovery time based on resilience theory. The absolute deformation and deformation rate of the ground were selected as ground performance indicators, which directly quantify the ground’s capacity to resist disturbance and maintain safety. This paper introduces both single-indicator and dual-indicator evaluation methods. Building on existing research, a classification standard for ground resilience is suggested. The proposed model was applied to the Hengqin Mangzhou Tunnel Project. The results indicate that the resilience metric varies significantly depending on the ground performance calculation method. The dual-indicator evaluation method yields safer assessments. The average resilience evaluation results from single-indicator evaluations are similar to each other but significantly higher than those from the dual-indicator evaluation. Furthermore, a positive sensitivity trend exists between the resilience metric and the grouting volume. These findings provide an important reference for early warning of ground deformation during shield tunneling.
