RRS1 is expressed in TE, PE, and EPI of the human blastocyst and regulates the proliferation, migration, and invasion of HTR-8/SVneo human trophoblasts. RRS1 knockdown and RNA-seq revealed differentially expressed genes enriched in diseases related with placental development. Human chorionic villus samples exhibited significantly reduced RRS1 expression in spontaneous abortion cases. Our results highlight the functional importance of RRS1 in human trophoblasts and early pregnancy loss. (Courtesy of Drs. Jie Qiao, Liying Yan, and Peng Yuan. The cytoplasmic-mitochondrial shuttling of lactic acid (left) and mitochondrial lactate oxidation complex (right). MCT1 is inserted into the mitochondrial inner membrane, strongly interacting with its chaperone protein CD147, and is also associated with COX IV and mitochondrial lactate dehydrogenase B (LDHB).
