On March 14, the 2026 Symposium on High-Level Journal Development in Dermatology and the Inaugural Meeting of Skin’s Editorial Board were held in Beijing (Fig. 1). Present at the meeting were Jin Yang, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of People’s Medical Publishing House (PMPH); Huabing Yang, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Higher Education Press; the Editors-in-Chief, Xinghua Gao, Director of the Institute of Dermatology and Skin Esthetics at China Medical University, and Yong Cui, Vice President of China-Japan Friendship Hospital, along with over 160 other participants.
Experts at the meeting stated that the launch of Skin carries the important mission of advancing the dermatology field. It aims to establish a high-quality international academic exchange platform, enabling domestic experts in dermatology to publish their research rooted in China and amplify China’s voice on the global stage.
Jin Yang emphasized that the editorial board should thoroughly study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches on the construction of Healthy China during the “two sessions”, and conscientiously follow the directives of Director Haichao Lei on journal development. He stressed the need to consolidate the foundation of quality, strengthen standardized management, promote international dissemination, and accelerate the development of a world-class scientific journal.
During the meeting, PMPH, China-Japan Friendship Hospital, and Higher Education Press signed a framework agreement on the development of high-level scientific journals. Meanwhile, experts from the Chinese Medical Journal (English edition) and Clarivate were invited to deliver special reports on enhancing the academic content and core influence of new English-language journals. Letters of appointment were also awarded to the members of Skin’s Editorial Board at the meeting.
