In part I of this series, experimental investigation in EPFM (elastic-plastic fracture mechanics) had been discussed. In this paper, experimental investigation in LEFM (linear elastic fracture mechanics) is given. Fracture toughness tests had been carried out on three different strength steels, using both through-cracked specimens with different a/W ratio and semi-elliptical cracked specimens with variable crack size and shape. Results show that the fracture toughness K IC increases with decreasing a/W when a/W<0.3 for three-point-bend specimens, and that for a/W>0.3, it is independent of a/W. Shallow crack specimens, both through-cracked and surface-cracked, gave markedly higher values than deeply notched specimens. However, the effect of crack shape on fracture toughness is negligible. Results also show that the LEFM approach to fracture is not tenable for design stresses where a c is often very small, far less than 2.5(K IC/σ y)2.

A “Market” based framework for multiple AUVs team is introduced in this paper. It is a distributed meta-level task allocation framework. The formulation and the basic concepts of the “Market” such as “goods” and “price” are discussed first, then the basic algorithm of the “auction”. The loosely coupled v-MDTSP tasks are considered as an example of the task allocation mission. A multiple AUV team controller and a detailed algorithm are developed for such applications. The simulation results show that the controller has the advantages such as robustness and low complexity and it can achieve better optimization results than the classical central controller (such as GA) in some tasks. And the comparison of two different local solvers also implies that we should get the reasonable task allocation even not using the high quality algorithm, which can considerably decrease the cooperation computation.

It is common practice in the offshore industry to solve the punching shear problem due to compression by using doubler plate. The finite-element method is a useful tool for studying this problem. The aim of this paper is to study the static strength of doubler plate reinforced Y-joints subjected to compression loading. The finite-element method is adopted in numerical parametric studies. The individual influences of the geometric parameters βand τ d (doubler plate to chord wall thickness ratio) and l d /d 1 (dubler plate length to brace diameter ratio) on the ultimate strength are made clear. The results show the size of plate may have important effects on the strength of reinforced joints. It is found that the ultimate strength of Y-joints reinforced with appropriately proportioned doubler plates can be greatly improved nearly up tothree times to un-reinforced Y-joints.

A novel initiative mating device, which has four 2-degree manipulators around the mating skirt, is proposed to mate between a skirt of AUV (autonomons underwater vehicle) and a disabled submarine. The primary function of the device is to keep exact mating between skirt and disabled submarine in a badly sub sea environment. According to the characteristic of rescue, an automaton model is brought foward to describe the mating proceed between AUV and manipulators. The coordinated control is implemented by the TDES (time discrete event system). After taking into account the time problem, it is a useful method to control mating by simulation testing. The result shows that it reduces about 70 seconds after using intelligent co-ordinate control based on TDES through the whole mating procedure.

The digital signal-obtaining for gyroscope is given. The single optic-fiber sensor via modulating intensity of light is used as measuring component. The influence on static transmission properties resulting from the special working environment (e.g. cryogenic and vacuum), the measure error because of the reflector shape of rotor, the abnormity of facula from sensor caused by the existence of engraving error, and the fixing error of sensor and the error of machine tool’s initial lignment are investigated. The mathematic model in every condition is founded, the simulation and relative experiments are done and the outcome is analyzed. The mathematic model and method of compensating technology are studied and some relative experiments are made. The result of study is useful to improvement of the signal-obtaining system.

The principles of the SINS/DVL integrated navigation system are introduced, and the compass status accuracy is compared. When the heading is changed, the dead reckoning algorithm using the heading information of the SINS (Strapdown inertial navigation systems) and DVL (doppler velocity log) is adopted to substitute the SINS/DVL integrated system. The simulation results show that the method can improve the accuracy of integrated navigation system when AUV (autonomous underwater vehicle) is in motion.

Either amplitude based methods or phase based methods are usually used in multibeam bathymetry system and chosen in practical measurement by ad hoc criteria. The errors of the detection are often caused by choosing wrong detection method. In this paper a modified multiple subarrays amplitude-phase united detection method is proposed, which uses both the amplitude and phase of echo from bottom. This new method not only realizes the super-wide swath coverage, but also improves the detection performance by using the phase differences among subarrays in place of phases of subarrays to estimate the phase slope image. Experimental results are also analyzed and discussed to demonstrate the effectivity of the proposed approach.

It is necessary for mine countermeasure systems to recognise the model of a water mine before destroying because the destroying measures to be taken must be determined according to mine model. In this paper, an immune neural network (INN) along with water mine model recognition system based on multi-agent system is proposed. A modified clonal selection algorithm for constructing such an INN is presented based on clonal selection principle. The INN is a two-layer Boolean network whose number of outputs is asion, and the affinity threshold also can control the capability of noise tolerance.

In this paper, in order to implement the share and exchange of the ship product data, a new kind of global function model is established. By researching on the development and trend of the application of ship STEP (standard for the exchange of product model data) standards, the AIM (application interpreted model) of AP216 is developed and improved as an example, aiming at the characteristics and practical engineering of ship industry in our country. The data exchange interfaces are formed based on STEP in the CAD/CAM for the ship by all function modules and shared databases under the global function model. The share and exchange of all information and data are solved in the design, manufacture and all life-cycle of ship products among different computer application systems. The research work makes foundation for the ship industry informatization.

A DRNN (diagonal recurrent neural network) and its RPE (recurrent prediction error) learning algorithm are proposed in this paper. Using of the simple structure of DRNN can reduce the capacity of calculation. The principle of RPE learning algorithm is to adjust weights along the direction of Gauss-Newton. Meanwhile, it is unnecessary to calculate the second local derivative and the inverse matrixes, whose unbiasedness is proved. With application to the extremely short time prediction of large ship pitch, satisfactory results are obtained. Prediction effect of this algorithm is compared with that of auto-regression and periodical diagram method, and comparison results show that the proposed algorithm is feasible.

Scattering and dynamic stress concentrations of time harmonic SH-wave in an infinite elastic piezoelectric medium with a movable rigid cylindrical inclusion are studied in this paper with the help of complex variable and wave function expansion method. The relations that a movable rigid cylindrical inclusion depends on intensity of incident wave and electric field are revealed. The expressions of dynamic stress at the edge of the inclusion are obtained. Numerical calculations are made with different wave numbers and different piezoelectric characteristic parameters. The calculating results show that dynamic stress concentrations at the edge of the inclusion have linear dependence on the incident electric field. And dynamic analyses are very important for an infinite piezoelectric medium with a movable rigid cylindrical inclusion at larger piezoelectric characteristic parameters.

It is necessary for an MC-CDMA uplink receiver to employ MUD (multiuser detection) in a frequency selective fading channel. After analyzing the algorithm of PIC (parallel interference cancellation) MUD, a novel MUD scheme, Soft-PIC (soft parallel interference cancellation) is proposed. Based on the reliability of each detected user signal in the former stage, this Soft-PIC detection scheme substitutes a soft decision of the variable for the hard decision in PIC scheme. Compared with the PIC scheme, it can reconstruct the interference signals more accurately and eliminate MAI (multiple access interference) in a more efficient way. PIC is one of the most practical schemes in numerous multiuser detection technologies. However, Soft-PIC as an improved PIC scheme deserves further study.
