Effects of tetrahydroberberine on isoproterenol-stimulated mitochondrial⁴⁵Ca uptake in rabbit myocardia

Abstract

Cardiac mitochondria of rabbit was prepared by differential centrifugation. Tetrahydroberberine (THB) 10 μmol/L innhibited isoproterenol 1 μmol/L induced⁴⁵Ca uptake in the mitochondria by 48.58 %. The inhibition is concentrationdependent and may play an important role in the protection of mitochondrial function in cardiac ischemia and reperfusion injury.
