According to the literature (K. K. Lapko, Gegg), in cases where pregnancy is accompanied by obesity, there is an increased frequency of complications of pregnancy and childbirth and their unfavorable outcomes.
For 13 years (1954-1966) 575 caesarean sections were performed in maternity hospital No. 1 in Perm, which is 1.95% of the total number of births (29,434). Classical caesarean section was performed in 329 women (57.22%), in the lower segment of the uterus with a transverse incision - in 246 (42.78%).
Although a little time has passed since the introduction of the vacuum extractor into obstetric practice (Finderle, 1952; Malmström, 1954; K.V. Chachava, 1955; I.P. Demichev and A.I. Petchenko, 1956), nevertheless this operation became widespread and largely replaced obstetric forceps.
The question of the effect of vacuum extraction on the fetus and on the subsequent development of the child cannot be considered sufficiently studied.
In 1961, we reported on two patients with open infected craniocerebral wounds, in whom plates made of polyvinyl-formal sponge were successfully used for plastics of defects of the dura mater.
