    Tissue engineering, applying the theories of cell biology and engineering, is a new scientific field to study and develop biologic substitutes for repairing tissue defects and restoring organ function. Succeeding cytobiology and molecular biology, it is a new mile stone in life science, marking that in medical science we will step into a new era-fabricating tissues and organs for transplantation .

    This paper discusses briefly the historical development of tissue engineering, the status of researches in different kinds of tissue and organ, and present development and acheivements in tissue engineering in China.

    Due to its great scientific value and wide applying prospect, tissue engineering is becoming the central point in life science research in the 21 st century. Accordingly, establishing and developing tissue engineering enterprise as soon as possible is of great significance in accelerating medical science and national economy development.

    According to the present status of China´ s water resources and the needs of sustainable development, it is imperative and possible to carry out the south-to-north water diversion project, that is to divert water from the Yantze River valley, which has plentiful water resources, upward to the north part of China.

    The principle of south-to-north water diversion should be as follows: Establish the sociaty of water-saving, do not supply water according to the “exaggerated needs”; distribute water rationally, and pay attention to tapping the potential; the east and weet water diversion routes are existing side by side and playing a part together, not irreconcilable to each other; make budget estimate in a practical and realistic way, avoiding endless supplementary budgets; the partial and local interests must be subordinated to the interests of the whole, and the temporary interests, subordinated to the long-term enes; implement unified management, scientific allocation and the charginy system for use of water resources; to divert water from the southwest region is not realistic, better to put off.

    Nuclear power is considered a sustainable energy resource, and it is a very important pillar for the development of Chinese national economy in the future. In the paper, the present status of nuclear power development in the world and China is described. The general and specific policies and technical route for Chinese nuclear power development, and several problems commonly concerned with Chinese nuclear power development, such as uranium resources、nuclear safety、radioactive wastes and localization of nuclear power in China are expounded and analyzed. Finally, the prospects of nuclear power development in China are forecasted and some suggestions put forward. Further development of nuclear power in China should base on the available PWR´s technology and to achieve localization、standardization、serialization The Fast Breeding Reactor plays a very important role during the course of nuclear power advancement, it should be strongly promoted and supported .At the same time, planning and construction of reprocessing plants together with necessary related in-stallations should be carried out as soon as possible.

    Shanghai Jinmao building is the 3rd highest building in the world at present. The main building consists of reinforced concrete core wall and exterior structure steel frame. It is rather difficult to construct this edifice in such a poor soil condition in Shanghai. Proceeding from actual facts, Shanghai Construction Groups (SCG) makes efforts to conduct technology innovation, and absorbs advanced experiences domestic and abroad wildly. A unit of unique construction technique and a suitable managing system were developed with the growth of this building. SCG successfully solved a series of construction difficulties including deep-foundation work, mega-columns construction, high - altitude construction and erection, and so on. It only spent 4 years on this building, which set a high-speed record in construction history.

    Traffic plays a pivotal role in the social economy operation. Rail traffic is alwys the principal part of traffic carrying trade in China. Electric traction has become the development orientation of rail traffic traction power.     The essence of cities at present should be an environment for human settlement and living. The relation between urbanization process and natural environment is neither to diametrically oppose nor to damage each other. The image of the city is not only buildings and streets but also a mix of cities, architecture and natural environment, i.e.an artificial beauty merging into nature. Man's bright future will be to put cities and buildings into green environment.

    The most important thing for construction of scenic and historical places and city parks and gardens is now to protect the natural resources of the site. It is wrong to follow limelight from others. Each city should creates its own feature from local natural environment and cultural tradition.

    Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is the largest province of China. Xinjiang Production & Construction Groups is a very important part of Xinjiang as a special organization form. The region should be able to accomplish much in the development of western region of China in light of its special geography condition, cultural tradition and natural resources. Xinjiang´s development must have its own characteristic. The region should tighten up environmentel protection, make full use of light and heat energy, build water - control facilities and improve irrigation technology. It is important to change people´s thinking and the function of government. It is badly in need of administrative personnel. The region should change the simple planting structure of grain and cotton, increase the proportion of animal husbandry, especially High - Quality Fine Wool Sheep in agriculture. Development of western region of China is of momentous pcactical significance and far — reaching historical significance. We should combine current benefit with long - term development, so as to realize the strategic target early.

    In this paper, the influence of thrust and air drag on rocket lateral vibration is studied, and the frequency reduction under the thrust and drag is analyzed. The formulas for evaluation of the changes of frequencies and vibration modes are obtained. The equations of transverse movement when nozzle connected rigidly with rocket and related boundary conditions form the basis for analyses. The conclusions obtained are applicable for active accelerating and passive decelerating parts of trajectory as well as the cruise flight when thrust and drag are balanced. The analyses show that for small thrust and small axial overload, the discrepancy resulted from different calculation methods is not big, whereas for the heavy overloaded case a more accurate solution is extremely necessary.

    Knowledge representation in AI has been a bottleneck for years. And the difficulty is uncertainty hidden in qualitative concepts, that is the randomness and fuzziness. At this junction, this paper presents a new concept of cloud models with three digital characteristics: expected value Ex, entropy En, and hyper entropy He. This methodology has effectively made mapping between quantitative and qualitative knowledge much easier at any time. A cloud drop, that is a quantitative value, representing the qualitative concept can be measured by contributions. A new explanation for the 24 solar terms in lunar calendar is given as well. The cloud models have been used in data mining, intelligent control, hopping frequency technique, system evaluation, and so on.

    In this paper, the historic background of the study on faster than light (FTL) and the possibility of working within the frame work of special relativity are discussed. The previous experimental studies with single photon, laser pulse and microwaves have revealed superluminal behavior in the quantum tunneling process. That phenomenon exists only in the case of special physical condition. The analogy between classical Telegraphist equation and Klein-gordon equation can be used to study particle tunneling and superluminal behavior. A discussion on the FTL experiment by Dr. L. Wang recently is included. Remarks on the future of FTL research is given in this article.

    Rocket sled test track is a large ground dynamic simulating test facility. It is used for the tudy of solving technical problems that occurred to the testing articles during their operations at high speed and high acceleration in the sky. The constructional key point of the track is the track´s relative linearity precision of one millionth. A stable track foundation, high linearity base line and smooth and surface bright rails are the foundamental conditions for the track. It needs also many new technologies, such as the specially machined rails, rail welding techniques, supersonic flaw detecting for welding, prestress tie-down of the track, straightness alignment, etc. China has successfully built the world ´s only track —XB high accuracy rocket sled test track, of which the rails are specially machined and then welded continuously. This paper describes the background, design approach, technical plan, measurement data, applications, future prospects as well as the technical and constructional characteristics of the track. It indicates the linearity of the track has reached advanced world level.

    The massively parallel processor (MPP) has been designed to meet the requirements for the high performance computing in many application fields of both national defense and economy. The structural scalability and the friendly programming are the two important and conflicting goals in designing a MPP system.
