Call for Papers: Special Issue on “Soil Pollution, Control, and Remediation”

Topic: Biogeochemical processes of inorganic, organic and biological pollutants for improved soil eco-environmental sustainability and human health

Background, Objectives and Scope

Toxic xenobiotics have increasingly accumulated in the soil system due to intensifying agricultural, industrial, and commercial activities. Soil pollution is a growing global concern, posing significant threats to food security, ecological sustainability, and human health. Research on biogeochemical processes of toxic pollutants is becoming a frontier in areas of soil pollution, control and remediation, and a challenge for scientists. This special issue reflects the great challenges we all face in protecting our environment from contamination by toxic pollutants, and will offer an excellent platform for scientists and professionals working on toxic pollutants across multiple disciplines to present the state-of-the-art research findings, exchange ideas, and discuss how the knowledge can be used for protecting our ecological environment and for improving soil ecosystem services and human health.

Contributions can include, but are not limited to, 1) Interactions between soil components and toxic pollutants, and their impact on soil ecology, 2) Biogeochemistry and processes of toxic pollutants in soil ecosystem; 3) Pollutants dynamics and fate in the soil-plant system, 4) Novel techniques in soil micro-ecological environment and new approaches in ecological control and remediation of contaminated soil. The toxic inorganic, organic and biological pollutants can include heavy metals, pesticides, antibiotics, phthalic esters, environmental hormones, antibiotics resistance genes, pathogens, and etc.

About the Journal and Submission Procedure
Soil Ecology Letters (SEL) is an authoritative source of information for professionals in the broad field of soil ecology, jointly published by Institute of Urban Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Higher Education Press of China and Springer.
