Aims & scope

Integrative Conservation is an interdisciplinary journal encompassing a wide range of perspectives and scholarly disciplines relevant for our understanding and conservation of biodiversity.

Integrative Conservation publishes papers with clear relevance for the theory, practice, or policy of biodiversity conservation. The journal covers a wide range of conservation science sub-disciplines, including organismal, population, community, and landscape ecology, evolution, systematics, biodiversity, behavior, botany, zoology, conservation physiology, conservation planning, policy, and different aspects of social sciences, as long as there is a direct relevance for biodiversity conservation. The journal publishes papers from all kinds of taxa, biomes, and geographical regions, although with certain bias towards Asian and tropical systems.

Integrative Conservation publishes mainly original research articles, but also reviews, opinion pieces, and methods. Local case studies are considered for publication when they meet high-quality academic standards and are considered to add value to conservation science, policy, or practice beyond the local scale. Integrative Conservation also publishes special issues and sections, in order to advance to our understanding of broad and topical conservation issues.

Integrative Conservation is published as open access with no publication fees at the moment. Papers are published in English, with a Chinese abstract and potentially with other language abstracts as online supplements. In order to facilitate uptake of the published content, each paper includes a small ‘summary for practitioners’ at the end.

Integrative Conservation is published by the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) in collaboration with theSoutheast Asia Biodiversity Research Institute (SEABRI), both part of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
