The role of the tongue in the formation of adaptive mechanisms with reference to dental implantation
The results of experimental studies on the development of macroglossia in animals are discussed with special reference to the adaptive capacity of the lingual tissue. The evaluation of the influence of macroglossia on the osteomuscular complex of the oral cavity-tongue system demonstrated the enlargement of the myocardial mass and the enhancement of energy exchange in cardiomyocytes.
