Stovarsol in poorly developing infants. Tezner (Mon. f. Kindheil., Bd. 34, H. 1)
The author was convinced that giving it in an amount of 1/2 to 2 tablets a day (up to 25 tablets in 3 weeks) could cause weight gain in hypotrophics, who, although receiving sufficient food, did not gain weight. Interested in the cause of weight gain in his experiments, the author investigated the basic metabolism when given stovarsol, as well as the excretion of water and salts, and, finding no explanation in either experiment, suggested a decrease in perspiratio insensibilis as the cause of weight gain.
