Why does chronic pulmonary consumption begin at the apex of the lungs Beitzke (Beitr. z. Kl. Tbc., Bd. 51)
The mechanical moment — the narrowness of the aperturae superior’s, as well as the early ossification of the I rib, is not given decisive importance at the present time; much more important, according to Beitzke (Beitr. z. Kl. Tbc., Bd. 51), anatomical and physiological conditions, local predisposition to a specific lesion of the apices.
