Abstract

Severe forms of rickets, as you know, often entail other serious illnesses and leave consequences for life. So, due to the softness of the chest and the atelectatic state of the lungs, rickets often develop pulmonary diseases, the prognosis of which is usually poor; a severe form of spasmophilia, sometimes accompanying rickets, is an equally serious disease; rickety curvatures of the skeleton of the lower extremities and the spine subsequently require orthopedic treatment, and the rickety forms of the female pelvis complicate, or even make it completely impossible, normal childbirth. All this should have attracted more attention to the study of rickets.
