It is proposed to mechanize the operation of timber harvesting in peasant (farm) enterprises in forest-steppe areas of Altai territory and other regions of Russian Federation by the way of using a small-sized skidding tractor. Construction of the tractor is substantiated.
Results of comparative tests of noise and vibration of a power unit with parts of case made of СЧ 21-40 and ЧВГ-35 cast iron are presented. These findings can be used for the assessment of high-strength cast irons applicability.

Findings of investigation of vibration loading of a motor cultivator are given. The cultivator was tested as a part of transport and soil cultivating aggregates on artificial track, concrete road and fertilized soil. Level of vibration on operator seat and on steering wheel in dependence on different tire types, different inner air pressure in the tires and speeds was compared to standards.
Ways of design improvement of a divider valve of ventilation system at transport are considered. Several variants of design are developed to optimize the valve performance. Two versions of valve which are the best on acoustic calculation results are presented.
