On July 19, 2019, the Beijing Clinical Medical College of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) was officially established in collaboration with Beijing Hospital. The hospital attaches great importance to educational work, actively training medical, nursing, and technical talents for the country, society, and the hospital. As the Fifth Clinical Medical College of Peking University and a teaching hospital of Peking Union Medical College, the hospital undertakes the full-course clinical teaching tasks for undergraduate medical students and postgraduate training tasks for master's and doctoral students, with nearly 300 students enrolled. As a national-level residency and general practitioner standardized training base, it has 18 professional bases that undertake residency training tasks, with outstanding results in the unified assessment of residency training. Geriatrics, cardiology, respiratory medicine, and general surgery have been selected as the first batch of specialty physician standardized training pilot bases, responsible for specialized physician training. The hospital actively organizes national continuing medical education programs with its professional characteristics and high-tech expertise, receiving training students from all over the country.

The hospital is also actively engaged in international exchanges and cooperation. By 2018, it had established friendly cooperative relationships with medical schools and healthcare institutions from more than a dozen countries and regions, which have played a crucial role in talent training and discipline development.

In scientific research, the hospital has gradually formed a research specialty and advantage focused on geriatrics. In February 2019, the hospital established the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences Institute of Geriatrics, another national-level research base in geriatrics. As the home of the national "dual center" and "dual chair" for geriatrics, the hospital has been entrusted multiple times by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Health Commission to advise and formulate national policies and guidance documents related to geriatrics. Currently, the hospital has 7 research platforms at or above the provincial and ministerial level. Since the 12th Five-Year Plan, it has obtained over 700 external scientific research projects, with research funding exceeding 400 million yuan. The hospital has won 18 provincial and ministerial-level science and technology achievement awards, and the number of published research papers has steadily increased, with high-impact papers growing annually. The research team on the prevention and treatment of respiratory and pulmonary circulation diseases was successfully selected for the Ministry of Science and Technology’s first batch of "Key Field Innovation Teams." The hospital places great emphasis on research, investing more than 30 million yuan annually to support research work. It has built platforms for inter-hospital and intra-hospital research cooperation, established a youth academic alliance, formulated research rewards and achievement transformation policies, and set up the Beijing Hospital Major Scientific Research Contribution Award and Hospital-level Research Achievement Award. The hospital also organizes a series of research talent training activities to provide maximum support and encouragement for researchers to carry out scientific research and research achievements transformation.
