Editor-in-Chief

Qi Wang, Sichuan University, Chengdu, China

Prof. Qi Wang, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, an expert in the field of plastic processing engineering, is the editor-in-chief of Chinese Journal of Polymer materials Science and Engineering, as well as deputy director of expert committee of China Plastics Processing Industry Association. She received her PhD from Sichuan University, China, and did post-doctoral research in Laval University, Canada, from December 1989 to March 1992. Since July 1984, she has been the staff of Polymer Research Institute of Sichuan University, China, acted as the Director of the State Key Laboratory of Polymer Materials Engineering, Chief Scientist of Science and Technology Innovation Platform of "985" Project of Sichuan University, International Representative of Polymer Processing Society, etc.

Professor Qi Wang is engaged in the scientific research on novel technologies and equipment for polymer processing and industrialization. She has got twice “the Second Prize of National Technology Invention Award”, the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Science and Technology Innovation Award, Golden Award for Chinese Outstanding Patented Invention, more than 60 issued patents and 440 published journal papers, etc.

Volker Altstädt, University of Bayreuth, Bayreuth, Germany

Volker Altstädt is a Full Professor of the Department of Polymer Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering (ING.) at the University of Bayreuth since October 2000 . After his university studies in Physics and earning his Ph.D. degree (Dr.-Ing.) at the department of Mechanical Engineering in Kassel (supervisor Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ehrenstein) in 1987, he worked as group leader in the Department of Polymer Physics under the Polymer Research Division of BASF AG in Ludwigshafen for eight years. From 1995 to 2000 he was a Full Professor for Polymers in Mechanical Engineering and head of the Department of Polymers and Polymer Composites at the Technical University Hamburg-Harburg, Germany. Furthermore, since 2009 he is CEO of Neue Materialien Bayreuth GmbH, a Bavarian state R&D-institution in the field of materials and processes for polymers, composites and metals. His research group is dedicated to scientific and industrial oriented research in the area of polymeric materials, establishing a connection between the natural sciences and engineering technology. Emphasis is placed on the interdisciplinary cooperation among the scientists, bringing together the disciplines of chemistry, physics, chemical engineering and mechanical engineering. Research activities of Volker Altstädt’s group focus on polymer foams, polymer composites and nanocomposites, polymer blends and compatibilization, resin systems and flame protection, special injection molding techniques, with the primary goal of determining the structure-properties relationships and tailoring polymeric materials for specific requirements.

Shuhui Sun, Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique, Québec, Canada 

Shuhui Sun is a Full Professor at the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique (INRS), center for Energy, Materials, and Telecommunications, Canada, and a member of the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars. His research focuses on functional nanomaterials for energy conversion/storage and environmental applications, such as PEM fuel cells (low-Pt and Pt-free catalysts), Li-/Na-/Zn-ion batteries, metal[1]air batteries, CO2 reduction, and water splitting for hydrogen production. He has published over 210 peer[1]reviewed journal articles with citations of over 11,500 times, and edited 3 books and 15 book chapters. His research has been recognized by many awards such as the Canadian Catalysis Lectureship Award, member of Global Young Academy, ECS-Toyota Young Investigator Fellow, IUPAC Novel Materials Youth Prize, Canada Governor General’s Academic Gold Medal, and the NSERC Alexander Graham Bell Canada fellowship. He is the Vice President of the International Academy of Electrochemical Energy Science (IAOEES). He serves as the Executive Editor-in-chief of Electrochemical Energy Reviews (EER), and the editor/editorial board of 8 journals related to nanomaterials and sustainable energy.

Shanwen Tao, University of Warwick, Coventry, UK 

Shanwen Tao is a Professor of Chemical Engineering & Sustainable Process in School of Engineering, University of Warwick. He is Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC). He received his PhD from University of Science & Technology of China in 1998. He was a research fellow in Materials Department, Risø National Laboratory of Denmark in 1999. During 2000–2007, he worked at University of St Andrews as Research Fellow/EastCHEM Fellow. He moved to Heriot-Watt University to take a Readership in 2007. In 2010, he was appointed as Professor in Nanotechnology for Energy Solutions at University of Strathclyde (John Anderson Research Leadership appointment). In 2015, he was appointed as Warwick-Monash Alliance Chair in Chemical Engineering & Sustainable Processes. His research interests include new ionic/electronic conducting materials for electrochemical devices such as fuel cells, electrolysers, batteries, and super-capacitors. He is also interested in new catalysts for ammonia synthesis and wastewater treatment through electrochemical processes.

 

Jun Yang, University of Western Ontario, London, Canada

Jun Yang is a Professor in Mechanical & Materials Engineering and Biomedical Engineering of The University of Western Ontario (Western University). He is Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (FCAE), and is also a registered Professional Engineer in Canada. His research interests include Intelligent Manufacturing, Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing, Micro/Nanofabrication, Industrial Internet/Internet of Things, BioMEMS/MEMS/NEMS, Metamaterials, Flexible/wearable Electronics, Composites, Surface Science and Engineering.

 

Gang Wu, University at Buffalo, New York, USA

Gang Wu is a professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University at Buffalo (UB), the State University of New York (SUNY). He obtained his BS, MS, and Ph.D. degrees at the Harbin Institute of Technology in 1997, 1999, and 2004, respectively. He had extensive postdoctoral training at Tsinghua University (2004‒2006), the University of South Carolina (2006‒2008), and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL, 2008‒2010). Then he was promoted to a staff scientist at LANL (2010‐2014). He joined the University at Buffalo in 2014 as a tenure‐track assistant professor and was quickly promoted to a tenured associate professor in 2018 and a full professor in 2020. His research focuses on functional materials and catalysts for sustainable electrochemical energy and environmental technologies. He has published more than 270 papers, including Science, Nature Catalysis, J. Am. Chem. Soc., Adv. Mater., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., and Energy Environ. Sci.. His papers have been cited more than 32,000 times with an H index of 92 (Google Scholar, by October 2021). He holds more than a dozen U.S. patents on catalysts for fuel cells and ammonia technologies. Clarivate Analytics (Web of Science) continuously acknowledged Dr. Wu as one of the Highly Cited Researchers from 2018 to 2021.

 

 Qichun Zhang, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, China 

Qichun Zhang is a Professor in City University of Hong Kong. He received his B.S. at Nanjing University in China in 1992, MS in physical organic chemistry (organic solid lab) at Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1998, MS in organic chemistry at University of California, Los Angeles (USA, 2003), and completed his Ph.D. in chemistry at University of California Riverside in 2007. Then, he joined Prof. Kanatzidis’ group at Northwestern University as a Postdoctoral Fellow (Oct. 2007 –Dec. 2008). Since Jan. 2009, he joined School of Materials Science and Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU, Singapore) as an Assistant Professor. On Mar 1st, 2014, he has promoted to Associate Professor with tenure. On Sep 1st 2020, he moved to Department of Materials Science and Engineering at City University of Hong Kong as a full professor. From 2018 to 2021, he has been recognized as one of highly-cited researchers (top 1%) in cross-field in Clarivate Analytics. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. Currently, his research focuses on carbon-rich conjugated materials and their applications. Till now, he has published >435 papers and 5 patents (H-index: 90).

Yao Zheng, The University of Adelaide, Adelaide, Australia 

Yao Zheng is an Associate Professor in School of Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials at the University of Adelaide. He received Ph.D. degree in 2014 from the University of Queensland, Australia. Then he did postdoctoral training at The University of Adelaide with Prof. Shizhang Qiao in 2015, then he was awarded ARC (Australian Research Council) DECRA Fellowship (2016–18), Senior Research Fellow (2019), Senior Lecturer (2020) and ARC Future Fellowship (2021–24). His research is focused on the nanomaterials for energy conversion application, which includes computation added catalyst design, reaction mechanism understanding and nanomaterial synthesis. These works in materials science successfully brings together materials engineering, physical chemistry, electrochemistry and quantum chemistry. By conducting in-situ/ex-situ spectroscopic characterisation and density functional theory computation, he have made several breakthroughs in revealing the reaction mechanisms as well as in developing new electrocatalyst candidates for various electrocatalysis applications including oxygen-and hydrogen-involving reactions, CO2 reduction reactions, and other electrocatalytic-refinery processes. Dr Zheng has published >120 research papers, which have attracted > 26,000 citations, with an h-index of 64. He was awarded Clarivate Analytics Highly Cited Researcher (in the field of Chemistry) in 2019–21.

Jin Zhu, Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, CAS, Ningbo, China

Jin Zhu is a Professor of Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences (NIMTE). He got his Ph.D. from Marquette University in 2001 and did postdoctoral work at Cornell University from 2001 to 2003. He had worked for several American companies from 2003 to 2009 prior to returning China. He is the director of Key Lab of Bio-based Polymer Materials of Zhejiang Province. His research interests are bio-based polymers.  He has published more than 220 research papers with a citation of more than 7000 times. He has more than 100 Chinese patents and US patents granted.

Chuhong Zhang is a professor at the State Key Laboratory of Polymer Materials Engineering, Polymer Research Institute of Sichuan University. She received her Ph.D in Materials Science from Heriot-Watt University in 2004, and then she worked as a research fellow in Prof. Peter. G. Bruce’s group at University of St Andrews from 2004-2012. Her research interest includes fundamental research and advanced manufacturing of polymer functional materials and devices for the application of energy storage and conversion as well as piezoelectric energy harvesting. She is the Managing Editor of SusMat.

Assistant Editor

Jingjing Jing, Sichuan University, Chengdu, China

Jingjing Jing joined the SusMat editorial office of Sichuan University as an editor in 2021. She received her Ph.D. in Materials Science (2018-2021) from Sichuan University. Her research interest includes advanced manufacturing of functional polymer materials and devices, preparation and application of degradable polymer materials. She is the Assistant Editor of SusMat.

Guangchen Xu obtained his B.Sc. and Ph.D. (Hons) from the Beijing University of Technology. He spent a year at Michigan State University as a visiting scholar. Before joining the Wiley team in Beijing in 2011, he was an Assistant Professor at Beijing University of Technology.

Jing Zhu completed her Ph.D. from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2011, during this period, she studied and worked in Guelph Food Research Centre, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada as a joint Ph.D. student for 2 years. Jing joined Wiley in July 2011 as a journal Editor and is based in Wiley’s Shanghai office.
