Quan Li is Distinguished Chair Professor and Director of Institute of Advanced Materials at Southeast University. He held appointments in USA, Germany, and France. He received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Chinese Academy of Sciences in Shanghai, where he was promoted to a youngest Full Professor of Organic Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry in February 1998. Li was Alexander von Humboldt fellow in Germany. He has won the Kent State University Outstanding Research and Scholarship award. He is a Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry. He has been elected as a member of European Academy of Sciences and a member of European Academy of Sciences and Arts. He has also been honored as Professor and Chair Professor at several universities. In the past ten years, he has edited eight books (2 Wiley-VCH, 2 Wiley, and 4 Springer books), and has co-authored 40 chapters including the invited author of the entry entitled “Liquid Crystals” in the prestigious Kirk-Othmer Encyclopedia and “Gold Nanorods” for Encyclopedia of Surface and Colloid Science. Li has been a Principal Investigator and Project Director in awarded federal grants from US Air Force Office of Scientific Research, US Air Force Research Laboratory, US Army Research Office, US Department of Energy, US Department of Defense Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative, US National Aeronautics and Space Administration, US National Science Foundation, etc. His current research interest spans from stimuli-responsive smart soft matter, advanced photonics, and optoelectronic materials for energy harvesting and energy saving to functional biocompatible materials and nanoparticles to nanoengineering and device fabrication.

Paula M Mendes received her MSc (1997) and PhD (2002) degrees in Chemical Engineering from Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto, Portugal. She undertook post-doctoral research firstly (2002-2004) in School of Chemistry, University of Birmingham, UK, and subsequently (2004-2006) at Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), USA. She began her academic career in School of Chemical Engineering, University of Birmingham in 2006, and she was promoted to Professor of Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology in 2013. From 2015 to 2018, she was a Visiting Professor at University of Washington, Department of Bioengineering, USA. She pioneered the use of electrically switchable oligopeptides to control biological interactions and the development of many molecular-based biosensors to deliver breakthroughs in fields ranging from cell therapy bioprocessing to cancer diagnosis. Her efforts have been recognized by numerous awards, including 2017 General Electric (GE) Healthcare Life Sciences Prize, 2019 Women in Tech Academic Award and 2021 Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) Sharma medal.

Takashi Nakanishi received his Ph.D. Degree from Nagasaki University in 2000. He was awarded JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowships (DC1 and PD) and worked at Houston University (USA) and Oxford University (UK). He started his research career at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Japan, in 2004 and has been promoted to a group leader at WPI-MANA, NIMS since 2016. From 2007 to 2010, he was also a group leader at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces (Germany), and from 2007 to 2011, he was a researcher of PRESTO-JST. He was also Visiting Professor at Warsaw University of Technology (Poland) and Shenzhen University (China) and is currently a Visiting Professor at Hokkaido University. His research focuses on functional soft materials, particularly optoelectronically-functional molecular liquids.

Yadong Yin received his Ph.D. from the University of Washington, Seattle, in 2002. He became a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Berkeley, in 2003, and a staff scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in 2005. Joining the University of California, Riverside in 2006, he became a Full Professor in 2014. He is an elected fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and Material Research Society. He has been recognized as one of the world's most highly cited researchers by Clarivate Analytics since 2014. His research interests include the synthesis, assembly, and functionalization of colloidal nanostructures, with a focus on stimuli-responsive materials.

Xin Su received his BSc in chemistry from Nankai University in 2009 and PhD in organic chemistry from Dartmouth College in 2013. Following postdoctoral training at the National Energy Technology Laboratory in Pittsburgh, he worked as an associate editor for Wiley′s materials science journals including Advanced Materials from 2015 to 2017. After spending a year at SpringerNature as a senior editor of Nature Chemistry, Xin joined the editorial team of Angewandte Chemie in 2018 and now serves as an executive editor of the journal.

Eric Ying Wang (王英) completed his PhD at Kungliga Tekniska högskolan (KTH, Sweden) in 2014 where his thesis work was about mechanistic study of artificial photosynthesis. After graduation from KTH he held position as a Wallenberg–Stanford Postdoc at Stanford University (USA) from 2014 to 2016, where he was involved in projects related to nitrogen reduction. In 2016 Eric moved back to Sweden and worked as a postdoctoral fellow at KTH until he joined Wiley-VCH in 2018. He is based in Wiley's Shanghai office.
