Natural extracts derived MnO2@ZnO nanocomposites for efficient energy storage and photocatalytic applications

This research work reports the synthesis and characterizations of ZnO, MnO2 and MnO2@ZnO nanocomposites by using Azadirachta Indica as well as Orange Peel (Citrus Sinensis) extracts. The synthesized nanomaterials were used to treat wastewater, containing Methylene Blue dye as well as used as a potential Energy storage electrode material. Several characterizations confirmed the characteristic properties of synthesized nanocomposites, and among them, OP-MnO2@ZnO showed better morphology, reduced bandgap and recombination rate, and enhanced electrochemical as well as photocatalytic properties. OP-MnO2@ZnO showed 97.72% degradation of MB dye and 883.63 F/g Csp that are much greater than other synthesized materials. The findings have proved the proficiency of OP-MnO2@ZnO as a synergistic candidate material for various applications.
