Professor Youping Li is a tenured professor at West China Hospital, Sichuan University. She has successively led the establishment of the Chinese Evidence-Based Medicine Center, Cochrane China, Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (Primary Registry of WHO International Clinical Trials Registration Platform), and the Evidence-based Medicine Ministry of Education Online Collaborative Research Center. She is also the editor-in-chief of the Chinese Journal of Evidence-Based Medicine. Professor Youping Li has served as a member of the WHO EML Expert Committee (2002-2015), the ICRAM working group, the Expert Committee of Clinical Trial Registration and Ethics Review of the WHO Western Pacific Region Office, and the Eighth International Peer Review Congress Board. She used to be deputy chairman of the Evidence-Based Medicine Committee of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, and chairman of the Evidence-Based Medicine Committee of Sichuan Medical Association. Her research focuses on evidence-based decision-making and management. She has published more than 600 peer-reviewed articles. She is also the editor-in-chief of textbooks for undergraduate and graduate students of evidence-based medicine and book editor of Practical Evidence-based Medicine.

Professor Mike Clarke serves as the Director of the Northern Ireland Methodology Hub based at Queen’s University Belfast and Director of the Northern Ireland Clinical Trials Unit. Mike is Professor of Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Oxford, Visiting Professor at the Evidence-Based Medicine and Clinical Epidemiology Centre of the West China School of Medicine in Chengdu, Extraordinary Professor in Clinical Epidemiology at Stellenbosch University in South Africa and Honorary Professor in Biostatistics at the University of Liverpool. Professor Clarke achieved a first-class BA in Chemistry at the University of Oxford in 1984 and a DPhil on the history of suicide, with special emphasis on the use of poisons. He has more than 30 years’ experience in rigorous assessments of the effects of health and social care in a wide range of areas, including many randomized trials and systematic reviews, and has published more than 400 papers and book chapters. He has been actively involved with trials in pre-eclampsia, subarachnoid haemorrhage, breast cancer, paediatric intensive care and poisoning - each of which is among the largest ever randomized trials in these conditions.
