Biosketch:

Dr. Zhao graduated from the 8-yr MD program at the Peking Union Medical College, earning a doctoral degree of medicine. He worked at the Department of Neurosurgery at Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University from 1996 to 2023. As the leading neurosurgeon, he was the among first to promote neuro-navigation and micro-neurosurgery in mainland China. Since 2022, he was appointed as the Academic Director of the Department of Neurosurgery at Yunnan University Affiliated Hospital. Starting from 2023, he was appointed as the Director of Department of Neurosurgery, Peking Union Medical College Hospital. Dr. Zhao serves as the Deputy Chair of the Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Youth Committees of the Neurosurgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and a member of the Eighth National Committee. Since 2015, he served as the Chief Editor of the English edition of the Chinese Journal of Neurosurgery. In 2020, he was recognized as a national-level talent with outstanding contributions. Dr. Zhao has published more than 80 SCI papers with a cumulative impact factor exceeding 100 points.
