Biosketch:

Dr. Xiao-Xin Yan earned his Bachelor of Medicine (Clinical Medicine,BM) and Master degree (Master of Medicine, MMed, Anatomic Science) from Hunan Medical University, and PhD in Neurobiology at Central South University. Yan was a visiting scholar to the Department of Anatomy at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School (currently a part of Imperial College London), UK. He received postdoctoral training at University of Utah, Moran Eye Center and University California Irvine, Department of Anatomy & Neurobiology from 1995-2000. Yan worked as a senior research scientist at DuPont Pharma then Bristol Myers-Squibb from 2001-2005. Yan was a tenure-track assistant professor of Anatomy at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine from 2005-2011, and currently a full professor in the Department of Anatomy & Neurobiology at Xiangya School of Medicine. Dr. Yan’s research interests include neurodevelopment, plasticity and brain aging. Yan has authored over 150 papers, which have been cited more than 4200 times, with a researcher's H index 38.
