Biosketch:

Dr. Zhen Ni is internationally known for his expertise on the neurophysiological studies at the systems level in humans. His research incorporates a range of techniques including noninvasive brain stimulation, electrophysiological recording and neuroimaging. In particular, noninvasive brain stimulation, such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and transcranial focused ultrasound stimulation can be safely applied in humans to stimulate the brain and investigate brain functions. His studies helped establish the standard paradigms to investigate the human cortical physiology. The results from his studies can be used to develop new therapeutic methods in patient populations. In addition, he also used these multimodal neuroimaging techniques to investigate the neurophysiological mechanisms related to human cognitive functions (e.g. learning, attention, perception, language).
