Biosketch:
Dr. Xuan Mu is a tenure-track assistant professor at the Roy J. Carver Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Iowa. Before this position. Dr. Mu worked at the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology, Peking Union Medical College, Tufts University, and Brigham and Women's Hospital/Harvard Medical School. He received the General Electric (GE) Foundation Scholarship, the Kwan-Cheng Wong postdoctoral fellowship, the Peking Union Medical College Rising Star Award, the UIOWA Jumpstart Tomorrow Feasibility Award, the 2023 BMES ABioM Junior Investigator Research Award, and the 2025 Old Gold Summer Fellowship. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles in leading journals, e.g., Nature Materials, PNAS, Nature Communications, and Advanced Materials. His research focuses on leveraging bioinspired manufacturing approaches to devising therapeutic scaffolds and in vitro disease models, and has been supported by the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
