Special issue: Transition management of energy systems towards carbon neutrality
Peng ZHOU is a professor and Vice President of China University of Petroleum (East China). Prof. Zhou’s research areas include energy economics and policy, with interest on the development and application of systems modeling techniques to address energy supply and use related issues. His research has been funded by various agencies/organizations including the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), with three NSFC projects being commended with excellent performance. Prof. Zhou has been awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (2016). He has extensively published papers in reputable journals such as Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, The Energy Journal, Energy Economics, European Journal of Operational Research, and Energy Policy. He is senior editor of Energy Policy, associate editor of Energy Economics, and member of editorial boards for several other journals in both Chinese and English
Yi-Ming WEI is a distinguished professor of Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) and is appointed as the Vice President of BIT in 2019. He is the founding director of the Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research at BIT. Prof. Wei has more than 30 years of experience in academia and consulting in the energy industry. His recent researches focus on energy policy and energy economics, CO2 emission and climate policy, and energy and climate policy modeling. He has performed over 40 research projects for various Chinese governmental agencies including National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Science and Technology of China, National Energy Administration, NSFC, China National Petroleum Corporation, State Grid Corporation of China, and Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as international organizations such as the World Bank and Seventh Framework Programme of the European Community. He has published 20 books and over 300 papers in peer review journals including Nature Climate Change, Nature Energy, Nature Communications, Nature Sustainability, and Climatic Change. Prof. Wei has been awarded the Prize of Science and Technology for Young Scholars (2001), the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (2004), Hundred Talents Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (2005), etc. Currently, Prof. Wei is the co-editor-in-chief of Energy and Climate Change and associate editor of Applied Energy. He is a Coordinate Lead Author (CLA) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Sixth Assessment Report
Andreas LOESCHEL is a professor for Environmental/Resource Economics and Sustainability at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum. His research interests are in energy economics and policy and the economics of climate change. He has published more than 80 papers in journals of the (Social) Sciences Citation Index, like Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Journal of Public Economics, Nature Climate Change, and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America. Since 2011, he has chaired the Expert Commission of the German Government to monitor the energy transformation. He has been a Lead Author of the IPCC for the Fifth and Sixth Assessment Reports. Prof. Loeschel is a member of the German National Academy of Science and Engineering (Acatech) and was awarded the German Economics Prize 2022 of the Joachim Herz Foundation for outstanding research in economics
Bin SU is the senior research fellow and head of Energy and the Environment Division at the Energy Studies Institute, National University of Singapore. He leads the energy modelling programme at the institute and is programme director of the Consortium for “Study on Singapore’s Energy and Decarbonization Pathways”. His research interests include energy and environmental systems modelling and analysis, focusing on energy efficiency, benchmarking, embodied energy/emissions, carbon footprint, carbon pricing, climate change, and energy resilience. Dr. Su is associate editor of Energy Economics and Indonesian Journal of Energy, and editorial board member and guest editor of many international journals. He has published more than 120 papers in reputable international journals, and has been named in the global “Highly Cited Researchers 2018–2021” lists released by Clarivate Analytics and Top 2% of Scientists in the Energy Field by the Stanford Study in 2020–2021. He has managed and/or participated in more than 30 energy and environment projects funded by government agencies in Singapore
Hui WANG is a professor at School of Economics and Management, China University of Petroleum (East China). His current research interests include energy transition management and energy system modelling. Prof. Wang’s research has been funded by various government agencies including the NSFC. He has published over 30 papers in international journals such as The Energy Journal, European Journal of Operational Research, Ecological Economics, and Environmental and Resource Economics
