Aims & scope

The journal focuses on new findings and innovative scientific advances in all aspects of collagen (the main component of animal skin) and leather, aiming to provide a platform for both scientists and engineers to address and discuss the theoretical and practical problems encountered in leather manufacture and novel utilizations of collagen. It also reports progressive achievements on chemistry, material science, biotechnology, biomaterials, environmental protection, chemical engineering and other related disciplines that can promote the leather industry and collagen material fabrication.

The journal publishes high-quality original research papers, short communications, perspectives and invited reviews. Relevant subject areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Fundamental researches of collagen
  • Collagen biomaterials
  • Collagen functional materials
  • Novel utilization of collagen
  • Collagen utilization in food industry
  • Tanning chemistry
  • Leather chemicals
  • Novel technology of leather manufacture
  • Polymeric materials and coating technology
  • Cleaner production and environmental management
  • Transdisciplinary researches related with collagen and leather
  • Biomass conversion and renewable materials
