Abstract

The article deals with physiological and biological changes in the body of soldiers in mountains, wound healing in a mountain climate, changes in the respiratory and circulatory systems, their impact on the ability to conduct combat operations in the highlands. The article provides recommendations for the selection and training of soldiers to conduct combat operations in mountains on the experience of such training in some armies of the world. For example, the US army does not have sufficient experience of fighting in the highlands, whereas, for example, India and Pakistan have experience of fighting in the highlands. The military command of the United States considers it appropriate to study and use this experience in the training of its mountain units, as in their opinion, in the near future it is very likely that a significant part of the military operations can move to the mountainous areas of different territories of the globe. And success in such a war will largely depend on the quality of training and rapid adaptation of soldiers to fight in the highlands in different climatic and geographical conditions and situation (bibliography: 105 refs).
