This article represents a brief review of the development of the doctor’s and the patient’s attitudes towards each other. Where does the estrangement stage start, when a patient turns from an individual into an interesting medical case? What unites and distinguishes these images? How does the image of the doctor change from healer shaman into a specialist wearing the medical uniform? What unites and distinguishes these two images?
