Use of aramid fibers to increase strength of carbon fiber shear along layers
This work experimentally verified the possibility of increasing shear properties of poly-composite materials (PCM) for reinforcement in transverse direction. To increase shear strength small tack aramid fibers were used. Flat plates of carbon fiber were manufactured by vacuum infusion of binder. Fibers of thin tack do not disrupt the structure of the PCM while sewing. Additionally use of PPTA fibers instead of PABI is economically profitable. The authors worked the technique of sewing layers of carbon fabric aramid fiber by subsequent infusion dry impregnation of the package through. It is shown that sewing increases the shear strength of high-strength layered carbon fiber.
