Preliminary tension as a way to reduce damage accumulation under cyclic loading
The article shows how, by changing cycle asymmetry factor using prestress, it is possible significantly increase the fatigue strength of parts or even eliminate its fatigue failure, which is especially valuable for the consumable components of safety devices.
