DYNAMICS OF RETINOPATHY OF PREMATURITY MORBIDITY INDICES AND EFFICIENCY OF LASER TREATMENT IN SVERDLOVSK REGION
The article presents the results of examination of 3580 infants of the risk group followed-up at the Regional Center for Retinopathy of Prematurity. Retinopathy of prematurity incidence in different years fluctuated from 30.5 to 34.9% with maximal index (up to 84.5%) registered among infants with extremely low mass of a body at birth. However infants with mass of a body at birth over 1500 g also were diseased (up to 23.8% of cases) and even lost sight (up to 10.9%). The threshold stages developed almost in 31.5% of the diseased infants. The efficiency of laser treatment fluctuated in different years from 77.5 to 100% in retinopathy of prematurity with minimal vascular activity, and from 30 to 86.4% in "plus"-disease and posterior aggressive retinopathy of prematurity. Intensive organizational work with the doctors of regional perinatal centers and increase of the number of patients timely directed for treatment as well as the perfection of laser coagulation technique resulted in decrease of disablement up to 2.2%.
