Risk factors and clinical features of mouth burning syndrome
The results obtained by the authors demonstrate that patients with mouth burning syndrome (MBS) are under increased psychological stress. The symptoms of MBS as a psychosomatic disorder are closely connected with depression and anxiety. However, according to the researchers, the question whether the emotional disturbances are the cause of MBS or its consequence is still open. MBS patients proved to be more exhaustible and sensitive, and had a tendency to apprehension concerning their health.
