The results of a clinical study designed to evaluate the effectiveness of general air cryotherapy at a temperature of -110-120 oC are presented. This physiotherapeutic method was used for heat elimination from the entire surface of the human body as a component of combined rehabilitative treatment of 68 patients presenting with mild arterial hypertension (AH). An approach to the practical application of this method and the comprehensive assessment of its efficacy has been developed. Objective evidence has been obtained that general air cryotherapy produces a well-apparent and long-lasting therapeutic effect, reduces arterial pressure, improves the quality of life of the patients with AH, and significantly enhances the endurance of the cardiovascular system in comparison with standard hypotensive therapy.

The objective of the present work was to study the influence of a pulsed electrostatic field on the children aged from 12 to 17 years with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis. Concomitant residual neurologic deficit (diagnosed based on the EDSS scale) was associated with motor disorders and sensory deficiency. It was shown that introduction of the application of a pulsed electrostatic field into combined therapy of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis produced positive effect in all treated patients manifest as improved functional characteristics of the vegetative nervous system and results of psycho-physiological tests. It is concluded that application of a pulsed electrostatic field in the framework of combined therapy significantly reduces the disablement frequency among the children with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis which confirms high clinical efficiency of this method.

Functional dyscoordination of the chest muscles in children presenting with bronchitis manifests itself as disturbances of the tone-to-strength ratio, the appearance of alternating strained and relaxed zones characterized by morbidity and enhanced sensitivity, altered physiological curvature of the thoracic spine, reduced biolectrical activity in the relaxed zones and its increase in the strained ones, and changes in the chronostructure of the respiratory cycle. The dyscoordination may be caused by obstructive bronchitis, functional blockade of intervertebral and costal-vertebral articulations, and hypodynamia. Good therapeutic effect was achieved by the combined application of rehabilitative techniques including manual therapy, remedial respiratory gymnastics, application of amplitude-modulated sinusoidal electrical current to the dorsal region, and classical massage.

The present study included a group of 50 children presenting with acute hematogenous osteomyelitis. The combined treatment with the use of laser irradiation of blood and local application of low-energy broadband electromagnetic radiation resulted in the improvement of clinical conditions of the patients, produced anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, stimulated local blood circulation, and promoted regeneration of the bone tissue. It is concluded that the proposed approach may be used as a variant of therapy for the management of children with acute hematogenous osteomyelitis.

This paper is devoted to the topical problem of rehabilitation of children with disturbances in the central nervous system (CNS) experienced during the perinatal period (6-12 months after birth). Combined therapy of all patients included pearl-bubble baths that were well tolerated by the breast-feeding infants. This treatment improved clinical and neurologic symptoms of the disease, stimulated vascular tone, and produced mild sedative effect. Moreover, the pearl-bubble baths promoted stabilization of hemodynamic characteristics especially in the patients with elevated arterial pressure and heart rate and reduced the duration of rehabilitative treatment which confirms high clinical efficiency of this therapeutic modality.

The authors carried out the analysis of the literature data concerning the treatment and rehabilitation of the patients presenting with hereditary neuromuscular diseases with special reference to myotonic dystrophy as the commonest form of muscular dystrophy. The strategy of combined treatment of this condition including traditional medicamental therapy, instrumental physiotherapy, balneotherapy, and the use of various devices for the improvement of the patients' quality of life is discussed.

Abdominal cryotherapy is known to have positive effect on the patients with irritated bowel syndrome by virtue of alleviation of abdominal pain, optimization of vegetative regulation (decrease of the coefficient of vagosympathic balance), improvement of the state of the psychoemotional sphere, reduction of hypochondriac fixation and depressive disorders. Inclusion of liquid synbiotics in the therapeutic regime enhances the above effects of cryotherapy and further decreases clinical manifestations of the disease due to normalization of various components of intestinal microbiocenosis.

Application of natural therapeutic factors is currently considered to be an effiacious method for the treatment of patients presenting with chronic non-specific salpingoophoritis. The present study included 76 women at the age from 19 to 35 years suffering this disease at the stage of remission. They were treated with the use of peloidotherapy based at the Gai health resort (Orenburg region). Their health status before and after the treatment was estimated from the results of analysis of medical histories, clinical symptoms, peculiarities of menstrual and generative functions, and hormone production (folliculostimulating and luteinizing hormones, estradiol, progesterone, prolactin, and cortisol). Combined peloido- and balneotherapy was shown to improve clinical and hormonal status of the treated women.

The objective of the present study was to estimate the influence of ozonotherapy introduced into the combined rehabilitative treatment on the characteristics of lipid peroxidation and immune status in the patients who underwent surgical treatment of endometrial cancer. Ozonotherapy was shown to restore the pro- and antioxidant balance and have immunomodulating action. These effects give grounds to recommend the inclusion of ozonotherapy in the combined postoperative rehabilitative treatment of such patients.

The problem of formation of the healthy lifestyle and popularization of the methods for this purpose acquires special significance under conditions of current socio-economic changes, global economic crisis, deterioration of environmental, hygienic, and demographic situation that negatively influence the health status of both adult subjects and children. The efficacious strategies are needed to improve the health status of the population and teach people the methods for personal health promotion. We have developed and evaluated the "Wellness" scale for the estimation of compliance with the health improvement methods. It allows subjective self-assessment of psychic and physical health, social activity, and motivation for the application of the application of rehabilitative technologies, such as phyto-, aqua-, cryo-, and dietary therapy, control of exo- and endogenous risk factors, giving up pernicious habits. The use of the "Wellness" scale permitted to reveal characteristic health profiles of schoolchildren, university students, and adult subjects.

The substantiation is proposed for the prescription of pysiotherapeutic treatment to the patients presenting with acute disturbances of cerebral circulation. Three modes of the application of physical therapeutic factors are distinguished, viz. pathogenetic, symptomatic, and correction of emergency clinical conditions. It is argued that the following physiotherapeutic procedures should be included in the programs of intensive therapy: transcutaneous laser irradiation of the blood, inhalation therapy, and treatment of concomitant diseases.
