Abstract

The objective of the present study was to carry out comparative analysis of clinical and anthropometric characteristics as well as results of ultrasonic diagnostics in patients with fractures of the lower extremities managed by combined treatment that included intermittent pneumatic compression. Patients of the control group received similar treatment without intermittent pneumocompression during their hospital stay. The results of the study indicate that the application of intermittent pneumatic compression at the early post-traumatic period reduces severity of pain syndrome, promotes activization of the patients, and accelerates resolution of soft tissue oedema in the affected limb.
