Cutaneous Endometriosis

Abstract

Cutaneous endometriosis is a pathological process with benign growth of tissue, morphologically andfunctionally similar to the endometrium. Endometriosis develops in tissues and organs of females and is presented by solitarty or multiple nodular formations; its most incident location are the pelvic region and the genitals. Cutaneous endometriosis is responsible for 0.42-4% of all endometriosis variants. The development of endometriosis in the skin and external genital mucosa is assumed to be caused by the hematogenic and presumably lymphogenic transport of the uterine endometrial cells. In addition to the vascular transplantation of the uterine endometrium, mechanical transfer is posible, as well as implantation during surgical interventions (cesarean section, salpingectomy, appendectomy, laparotomy, herniotomy). A clinical observation is presented.
