Lichen ruber planus pigmentosus
Lichen ruber planus pigmentosus is most frequently observed in residents of Asia, Latin America, and Middle East. Clinically this form manifests by dark-brown macules, papules and/or plaques mainly on the closed sites of the skin and in skin folds. One of the important symptoms of this form is prominent pigmentation, preceding the formation of lichenoid papules and impeding their detection. A case history is presented. A woman aged 53 developed a rare form of lichen ruber planus pigmentosus. The disease was disseminated with localization in the armpits and inguinal folds and regressed after 4 sessions of photophoresis.
