PREVENTIVE TREATMENT OF INDIVIDUALS WHO HAD CONTACTS WITH PATIENTS WITH CONTAGIOUS SYPHILIS

Abstract

Protocols of differentiated preventive azitromycin therapy have been developed for patients with a history of sexual intercourse or close communal contacts with patients with contagious syphilis. Single oral drug doses for incubation periods of up to 14 days were 1 g, up to 1 month 1.5 g, and up to 2 months 2 g. Clinical and serological testing throughout 6 months showed no signs of syphilis in all subjects with a history of contacts. The protocol can be used in practical public health.
