PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY WITH INTERSTITIAL IRRADIATION OF SKIN TUMORS

Abstract

Photodynamic therapy with interstitial irradiation was carried out in 21 patients with basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas of the skin (T1—4N0M0). The tumors completely regressed in 76.2% patients, partially regressed in 23.8%. The therapy was ineffective in none of the cases. The results suggest this method for the treatment of large skin tumors of various sites as a monotherapy and in combination with long distance photodynamic therapy.
