Specific features of disability in retirement-age citizens of Saint Petersburg

Abstract

We present the analysis of specific characteristics ofprimary and re-recognized disability in retirement age citizens of St. Petersburg in 2002-2013. We studied the number, level, structure and performance of rehabilitation ofpersons with disabilities in this age group. We compared the basic disability characteristics of the pension age citizens with those of working-age disabled population of St. Petersburg and the retirement-age population in whole Russia. We defined ranking places of disease types in the structure ofprimary disability. The main features and trends in disability, including rehabilitation indicators, are presented in order to further improve social assistance and support for the given contingent of disabled people.
