EXTENDED AND COMBINED OPERATIONS IN THE TREATMENT OF LOCALLY ADVANCED THYROID CANCER
The paper comiders surgical treatmenі as extended, combined, and repeated surgical interventions for locally advanced thyroid cancer (TC). Differed studies have failed to give certain amwers to the questions about indications for, surgical techniques, immediate and late results of such operations for locally advanced cancer. The results of treatmeпі were analyzed іn 770 patients with TC treated at the Kursk Regional Oncology Dispemary іn 1997-2008. Locally advanced carcinomas were found in 157 (20.38%) patients. The surgical method that is commonly difficult-to-use was shown to prolong life and improve its quality.
