Automatic movements of the gastrointestinal canal are regulated by the central nervous system by nerves, motor and inhibitory, which make up two separate groups; for the stomach and small intestines, the vagus nerves are motor, inhibiting n. n. splanchnici superiores, while the colon gets its motor fibers from n. n. erigentes (n. n. pelvici), and retardant — from n. n. splanchnici inferiores, i.e., withdrawal of the nerve trunks, which go from the sympathetic borderline trunk to the lower mesenteric node and the post-node continuations of which are n. n. hypogastrici and n. mesentericus inf.
In my present work, I mean to state the history of the disease of one rather exceptional case of lineuritis, which I had the opportunity to observe in the spring
1913 in the clinics of my dear teacher, Professor N.M. Popov, and about which I will allow myself to express some considerations, relying mainly on literary data.
Cases of hysterical chorea were observed earlier on a huge scale. So from the beginning of the XIV century, they began to describe strange epidemics of mass homogeneous convulsions and involuntary movements especially common in monasteries, places of worship to shrines and around preaching.
The question of rational treatment of adherent neuralgia and neuritis has already been occupied by practitioners for a long time and has not yet received a sufficiently definite solution. The abundance of funds that recommends as neuropathology, in the form of means of internal and external, in the form of massage, electro-light and water treatment, as well as surgery, in the form of all kinds of injections and, finally, operational manipulations, all proves great interest. excited by this question on the one hand, and the unsatisfactory solution of his therapy on the other. Therefore, the meaning of the messages on this issue that have appeared over the past years is completely understandable, the interest that these messages aroused among neuropathologists on the issue of the treatment of Ischias is understandable. I am talking here about the treatment of mucous neuralgia with salt infusions, which have appeared recently and soon took a prominent place in the therapy of this kind of neuralgia.
The motives of this study were not only the completely understandable scientific interest of the issue, but also the desire to see if the data obtained would give any indications for rational light therapy in the field of the psyche.
