Changes in the central nervous system during menstruation cannot be viewed only as purely reflex, caused by local processes of peripheral irritation of the ovarian nerves. During menstruation, a very important general biological process takes place, in which the vascular and nervous systems take part. Nervous and mental changes are only a particular phenomenon in the overall picture.
