Markers of the severity of ankylosing spondyloarthritis
Ankylosing spondyloarthritis (AS) is a joint disease that leads to early disability in the able-bodied population. To study the markers of early disability, 86 patients with AS were examined. Their mean age was 32±7.6 years. The study lasted 6 years. Fifty-four (63%) patients had disability and 32 (37%) were nondisabled.The predictors of severe AS with possible disability in the first уear of the disease are its acute onset, systemacy, high clinical functional failure, inefficacy of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and clinical onset of the disease.
