Neuropsychiatric abnormalities in pulmonary tuberculosis patients and their correction during treatment
We examined tuberculosis patients with the Minnesota Multiple Personality Inventory (MMPI) to determine whether this technique could be used by phthisiatricians untrained in psychiatry to assess personality features and detect psychiatric disorders in patients.
Using the MMPI, modified by L.N. Sobchik, 149 patients (146 men and 3 women) with pulmonary tuberculosis aged 20 to 59 years were examined. Results of the examination were interpreted according to 3 evaluation and 10 clinical scales. Quantitative data were converted to T-points, and the personality profile was determined on the basis of their graphic representation.
